The winners of the Open Teams Challenge for the Hecht Cup, played over the weekend of 14 & 15 November were

 

David MULLER, Michael Grounds, Rob Cliffe, and Alan Mayo.

 

Twelve teams entered. The top four teams after Saturday’s play qualified for semi‑finals on Sunday. In qualifying order, they were

 

Frances HINDEN, Graham Osbourne, John Holland, Barry Myers

 

Janet DE BOTTON, Thor‑Erik Hoftaniska, Nick Sandqvist, Tom Townsend

 

David MULLER, Michael Grounds, Rob Cliffe, Alan Mayo

 

Gitte HECHT‑JOHANSEN, Szczepan Smoczyński, Isobel Maeer, Ben Ritacca.

 

Qualifying leader HINDEN picked HECHT‑JOHANSEN as semi‑final oppenent and won the match by 60 IMPs. The other semi‑final was closer with MULLER prevailing against DE BOTTON by 7 IMPs. MULLER then went on to win the final against HINDEN by 30 IMPs. (DE BOTTON chose to concede third place to HECHT‑JOHANSEN rather then play the match.)
